A call to get involved...

We are looking to build a small team of volunteers and supporters to join us on this adventure - enabling people to make ‘room for home’ through our themed craft workshops. If you have a love of making stuff for your own home; love working with people; and helping them learn new skills and have fun in the process - we would love to hear from you!

We are looking for people who would like to help facilitate our workshops. Also we would love to hear from those who have a particular craft/making things skill they would like to share.

And if you’re having a clear-out we are looking for donations of craft-type items and small things we could up-cycle. Particularly useful items are:

Good quality fabric (to make cushion covers and lampshades).

Buttons, ribbons, sewing thread

Picture frames that can be painted

Paint tester pots - especially in bright colours

Pots and tin cans that can be painted or covered

For more information on our volunteering opportunities visit our volunteer page.

And if you have something you wish to donate, or would just like to find out more, please contact us.

Welcome to Room for Home

Welcome to Room for Home’s first blog.

My name is Kate. I started Room for Home a year or so ago, running a few workshops, sharing my love of making and up-cycling things for the home - helping others turn their space into a home, and having fun meeting others and learning new skills along the way.

This year we have some more workshops planned - and are looking to work with more of those who have experienced homelessness; are in insecure accommodation; or just on a very low income. We plan to show that you don’t need lots of money or expensive resources to make something nice for your home - just a bit of creativity and imagination. So watch this space, as I document the Room for Home journey these coming months…
